Some people may be shocked to hear the term “Vintage” in-front of a listing for Walmart’s brand “No Boundaries” (also called NoBo).

Vintage is generally a term applied to items that are at least 20 years old. Since we’re in 2025, that means 2005 is now considered vintage. NoBo actually goes as far back as the 90’s, so you can actually consider many pieces vintage now. The logos have changed some over the years, but Walmart made it really easy to date pieces with the coding they used on their hang tags. Usually in a 3 or 4 digit date code on most hangtags on the left side. For example:

Hear are the eras broken down for each tag style, from what I was able to confirm with hang tag dates. I’m unsure of when exactly NoBo started, but it was at least 1996. There may be some tag variations not pictured here, or some crossovers on labels during transitional periods. If I come across new info I’ll update it as it becomes available. 

 

‘96 or Earlier

“NO Boundaries”

Hang tag features a women’s face with sunglasses on.

Variation of this tag was a “NO Plus”. Cannot find any confirmed date information.

1997 - Early 99

“No Boundaries”

Hang tags feature a woman’s face.

In addition to referencing date codes on tags, I found multiple listings where the seller says they remember purchasing the items with these tags in ‘97 & ‘98.

Early 1999 - 2003

“no boundaries”

Hang tags tend to vary, but most seem to have some variation of the sun logo as pictured below.

2001 - ?

I could only find two examples of this tag with a date, both were swimwear pieces from 2001.

2004 - 2008 +/-?

“no boundaries”

Hang tags tend to be gray/silver color with the “NOBO” logo with the stars in the o’s.

Variations:

This tag from 2005 was from the sleepwear line and has a different color square.

2006 - 2008 +/-?

“nobo no boundaries”

Hang tags tend to be brown card stock with the “nobo” logo and look purposefully distressed.

2009- 2011

Seems to be a transitional period. Still looking for accurately dated tags. Will update when available.

2012 - 2015

“no boundaries”

These two tags seemed to be used interchangeably over this time period. You can also find heat stamped “tagless” labels. Hang tags continue to use the “nobo” with stars.

 

 

2016 - 2024

“NOBO No Boundaries”

Silky or Printed Tag.

Hang tags tend to be black with hot print NOBO branding

 

 

2021-2023 +/-?

“NO BOUNDARIES”

This tag tends to be found on jackets and pieces that can support a large tag without bothering the wearer. Not to be confused with the vintage Y2K tag above.

June ‘24 - Current

Rebranded “No BoUNDARIES”

Hang tags tend to be cream or tan colored.
